Our New Shop Project

As many of you know, our shop put together a major effort to finish the build on Dean’s Just Aircraft SuperSTOL in order to get it ready for display at Oshkosh. It was pretty well received. On the trip back, we were discussing what we would be doing for an encore. As luck would have it, we have a very nice Murphy Aircraft Rebel Elite airframe stashed in one of our personal hangars. It was recently purchased from an estate, as a project plane to simply finish and flip. However, it has occurred to us that it has some great features, and with a little (okay, maybe a lot) modification, we could create an outstanding back country aircraft, that was a little unusual. We are going to document the build here. Our first step will be to relocate the Elite down to the Lone Star Aircraft Services hangar from it’s current home at T25. This will require some disassembly. We will keep everyone posted on the progress, which may take a little while since we need to dedicate some shop space for it. In the meantime, we will have some discussions about the Murphy Rebel Elite, and why we think it will make a great project aircraft. As can be seen below, the airframe is straight and the workmanship (under a few years of hangar grime) is quite nice. Keep visiting us here for more info as the project unfolds.
